How Our Inspections Work

Helping homeowners navigate the hail damage process with clarity and confidence

After a hailstorm, one of the first steps in restoring your home is scheduling an inspection. At Epic Roofing & Exteriors, we understand this part of the process can raise questions:

  • Who is coming to your home?
  • What exactly are they looking for?
  • Do you need to be there?

To help clarify, we’ve developed a short, and informative video titled “What to Expect From Your Inspection”. A resource created to walk you through this important first step. The video features Colin, one of our senior estimators, who brings years of field experience and a calm, knowledgeable approach to every inspection.

What Does an Epic Inspector Do?

Once we receive your claim from your insurance provider, our customer service team creates a dedicated project file and assigns one of our trained inspectors to your case. Their responsibility is to conduct a thorough assessment of your home's exterior.

Our inspectors:

  • Evaluate damage to the roof, siding, windows, fascia, soffit, and gutters
  • Take detailed photos and collect samples when needed for color matching
  • Submit all findings to our estimating team for a complete, insurance-compatible damage report

Note: Inspectors do not provide estimates, determine the cause of damage, or discuss pricing or timelines. Their role is observational, ensuring your adjuster has everything needed to evaluate the claim.

Do You Need to Be Home?

In most cases, no. Our inspectors are trained to complete the assessment on their own unless:

  • There is interior damage that needs to be assessed
  • Access is restricted by locked gates or other barriers

If you have specific areas of concern, contact our customer service team beforehand. We’ll ensure the inspector is informed before arriving at your home.

Common Questions Answered

Do inspectors decide what's covered by insurance

No. That decision is made by your insurance adjuster based on the inspection findings.

Can I join the inspector during the walkthrough?
We recommend sharing notes in advance. While it’s understandable to want to be involved, walking with the inspector can interrupt their workflow and affect accuracy.

What about items like patio furniture or air conditioners?
These are considered “contents.” Please document them yourself with photos and send them directly to your adjuster. Our team can assist with confirmation if needed.
